Vuyo Tyolo is a South African vocalist, songwriter, and performer whose work moves across Afro-soul, jazz-influenced expression, and house-oriented production. Originally from East London, his early life was shaped by a Christian upbringing, with his father serving as a priest. Music entered his life through the church environment, where he first sang and learned keyboard during services, building a foundation that would later define his artistic direction.
During his school years, he formed an a cappella group called The Golden Boys. The group performed at school functions and community events, giving him early exposure to live performance and group harmony work. These experiences helped shape his understanding of vocal arrangement and stage delivery.
After completing school, he began working behind the scenes on demo recordings for other artists. This period placed him inside early studio environments where he gained practical experience in recording, backing vocals, and arrangement work, contributing to his development as a studio musician.
His professional recording debut came in 2010 with the release of “Genesis: 1” under Sony Music Entertainment Africa. The project positioned him as a solo artist working within a blend of pop, soul, and house influences, highlighting his vocal style and interpretive approach to songwriting.
Following his solo introduction, he later collaborated with DJ and producer Mpho Hlahla to form Deepa Trybz. The project focused on combining soulful vocal elements with deep house production structures, creating a hybrid sound built for both listening and performance environments.
Beyond studio releases, Vuyo Tyolo has built a reputation as a live performer, appearing at curated music events such as Jazzy Joburg Night Market. His performance style leans heavily on live interpretation rather than rigid playback formats, allowing flexibility across different stage settings.
His career reflects movement between church-rooted beginnings, studio development, solo recording, and collaborative electronic projects, maintaining a consistent presence across both live and recorded music spaces.
